Macarons from BOSIE TEA PARLOR

Thanks to Taiwan Tourism New York, we got a chance to experience the Grand Feast event hosted by LUCKYRICE Culinary Council at Mandarin Oriental.  The event Grand Feast had an impressive food selections and chef line-up including TAIWAN Chef Theresa Lin, Chef Ming Tsai, Chef Susur Lee, Chef Angelo Sosa, Chef Ian Kittichai, and BUDDAKAN Chef Yang Huang.

The “belle” of the LUCKYRICE Festival, the celebrity-chef studded Grand Feast is a paean to Asian cuisine. At this ultra-luxe walk-around tasting, join the LUCKYRICE Culinary Council as we welcome star chefs from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and beyond as they serve up their best dishes.

With a roomful of culinary talent, expect to be teased by unexpected new flavor combinations, be it sea urchin panna cotta or bonito tataki with black truffles and cherry blossoms. After all, this is a gathering of the world’s top chefs serving up authentic as well as imaginative interpretations of the best that Asian cuisine has to offer.

To complement the diverse Asian cuisine, sample fine sake and shochu from Japan, premium wines from Germany, Thai beer, French cognac and champagne as well as inspired cocktails. Imagine traveling through all of culinary Asia without leaving the majestic Mandarin Oriental ballroom overlooking Central Park. If you can only make it to one LUCKYRICE event, make it a night out on the town “in grand style” at the Grand Feast.

Chef Theresa Lin

The Grand Feast event was packed with beautiful people who wanted to enjoy the best of Asian cuisine!  By the time we got there, a lot of tables had nothing left since some of the restaurants didn’t prepare enough portions or they didn’t expect to have that many participants.  One thing we have to say, chef Theresa Lin’s station should have received a “Best Team Award” if there was such an award from LUCKYRICE Culinary Council.  As soon as we walked in the venue, the entire Taiwan Tourism team quickly served us Chef Lin’s specialty “boiled squid with five-flavor sauce” with unlimited servings and also pulled the amazing Kinmen Kaoliang liquor and lychee drink!  We absolutely love those!

We also stopped by the special program and tent set up by BOMBAY SAPPHIRE where they let audience prepare their own drinks and enjoyed some tasty dumplings as well as watching a beautiful dancer showcased some cultural performance.

Before we called it a night, we also sampled some sakes presented by Japanese Culinary Center.  Staff who worked there that night were all super friendly and did their best to show us all the wonderful drinks they prepared.

It was a great night and we bumped into many friend who love Asian cuisine as much as we do.  Hope next year we can get to try more of these amazing food and delicious drinks!  Looking forward to the next FEAST!
