The Chairman, Red Flower and Hsu-Nami Bands Rocked NYC Night

Red Flower Band and The Chairman

AsianInNY along with organizers P2TW and TKNY co-organized and presented “Hello Taiwan NYC!” concert to showcase two amazing bands from Taiwan: The Chairman Band and Red Flower Band for their US tour in New York City on May 17th at Drom music venue where many musicians have performed. Our NYC’s very own the Hsu-Nami Band also rocked the stage with them. It was a beautiful night with wonderful music supporters!  We also gave out more than 100 key chains and bottle openers sponsored by Asian Beer for everyone who participated the concert.

Hsu-Nami

The first band to perform is the Hsu-Nami: an international renowned prog-rock band from the United States. Integrates an amplified electric ”erhu”, a tweaked two-string spike fiddle used in Chinese classical and folk music, into a rock lineup,  the band Hsu-Nami, typically compose lengthy erhu melodic-based instrumental pieces that feature dynamic contrast, heavy guitar riffs, melodic bass guitar lines and trading solo. Part of the new-fusion rock movement, the Hsu-Nami redefines the 1960s and 1970s progressive fusion rock music. Hsu-Nami’s music was featured in the 2008 Summer Olympic in Beijing.

Red Flower

The second band to perform is a popular electro pop rock band that’s under Sony Music Taiwan: Red Flower Band.  Emerging band Red Flower straddles the murky line between pop and indie band. Red Flower Band was found in 2005 and since then, two tracks have become TV drama theme songs including “Love Second Time Around” makes a nod to 1980s happy-go-lucky rock, while “Pillow Talk” veers into atmospheric slow rock redolent of Coldplay.

The Chairman

Last but not least, the Chairman band closed the night with some wonderful original music.  The Chairman, formed in 1997, has released 8 albums, and received numerous domestic and overseas awards. The Chairman is famed for its particular Taiwanese local rock and roll style and has dominated the Taiwan music industry for years. The Chairman has been nominated and won awards including Golden Melody Awards and Golden Indie Awards in Taiwan. They were also invited to perform at 2011 Taiwan Heritage Night at the Mets Citi Field, the first Taiwan live band to perform at any Major League Baseball.  They performed songs in Taiwanese whole night at the event since they believe that music is an universal language and even some audience might not understand but it’s the melody that can fully express what they are trying to say.  Fans were very excited when hearing songs they are familiar with and wanted the band to continue even after the concert was over.

As soon as the concert finished, fans were patiently waiting in line to get autographs and purchasing bands’ merchandises to support the bands.  What an amazing night!  You guys truly rocked the NYC night!  We can’t wait for the next one!  For more of upcoming events, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/HelloTaiwanRocks
